Book Review - The Heart of War by Ms. Lisa Beth Darling
When Ares the God of War investigates an intrusion on his
island exile, he never imagines that the castaway running from her future will
save his. Banished from Olympus for
crimes he didn’t commit, Ares has grown comfortable on his isolated island,
content with the company of his guards and his harem of women.
Magdalena, claimed as a child bride of a Celtic god, wakes
up bound and beaten on a remote island confused by memory loss. However, anything is better than the fate
imposed on her by an ancient god. With
the mistrustful help of Ares, they must
Distrusting each other, but thrown together by fate, they
discover she is a pawn in a murderous plot stretching back hundreds of years.
Ms. Darling takes characters from ancient legends and
breathes new life into them. Her blend
of mythology and modern issues is well written and inspiring. The characters stay true to themselves and
show once again that love can conquer all, but only after a hard, vicious
fight. I found the characters engaging,
sympathetic and very memorable. I
definitely want to see how the story progresses.
Warning: this novel is intended for ADULTS ONLY. It
is not recommended for the faint of heart. It contains several scenes of
graphic sex and violence. As a dark
erotic romance, there are scenes that will make your blood boil, your stomach
churn, and break your heart.
OVERALL RATING - 5 STARS!
MATURITY RATING - 18+ VERY steamy (scenes containing graphic
torture, sex, and sexual violence)
