Book Review - Hot Toy by Jennifer Crusie

ABOUT THE BOOK Previously published in the anthology Santa, Baby, HOT TOY is now available as a standalone e-story for the first time! Mayhem ensues under the mistletoe as a determined shopper grabs the very last hot toy action figure off the shelf, only to find herself plunged into the middle of a real-life spy game and in the arms of a sexy secret agent...   REVIEW I love, love, love Jennifer Crusie, and I was so happy to see that there was a “new” book by her to read!  This is actually a previously published book by the author, but the story holds up well.  Even though this is a novella, the story flows well and she somehow includes a sweet romance along with a mystery.  I recommend this to not only Jennifer Crusie fans, but also anyone looking for a well written Christmas story that stands apart from the usually sappy stories out there.   OVERALL RATING - 5 STARS! MATURITY RATING - 18+ a little steamy   ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jennifer Crusie was researching her dissertation o

Book Review - Jingle Bell Harbor by Tracy Brogan

Book Review - Breaking the Declan Brothers #2 Slate by Kelly Gendron

ABOUT THE BOOK "Some boys will keep it, some will break it, and some boys, they just won't want it. You gotta be careful who you give your heart to..." ~ Slate Declan     First loves, we all got them. Mine is Slate Declan. He was kind, gentle, and caring. Still, he managed to break my heart. So I put miles between us, and eventually, my heart healed. I haven't seen Slate in years, but a couple friends and I are going back to the Bayou for the summer. While I'm visiting my hometown, I'm going to look up Slate Declan. And I plan to break his heart, just as he did mine. I'll remind him of what he has lost, and then I'll prove to him that I've moved on. It should be real easy, right? Well, let me tell you, Slate Declan is not the same guy that I left behind. And there's another problem. How do you break someone's heart when they no longer have one?   REVIEW I really enjoyed how the author used flashbacks to tell the story of Rayna and

ABOUT THE BOOK   Emerson “Emi” Blake dropped out of culinary school to care for her ailing mother, but she has bigger dreams than running St. Helena’s most popular pita cart. First on the menu: upgrade to a gourmet food truck. A new part-time job as a personal chef will definitely provide the funds, but it also forces her into close contact with her one and only one-night stand, Dax Baudouin, who’s daring her to try a second taste. Former army Ranger Dax has a clear mission: come home, get healed, and get gone. Yet Emi’s tough-girl exterior and hidden soft side are even harder to resist than her mouthwatering baklava. After years of battles, he knows better than to try and rescue anyone—not that she’ll let him get close enough to try. Truth is, Dax is starting to think that Emi’s the one person who can save   him …if he can just persuade her to give him another shot. REVIEW I love, love, love Dax and Emi.  They both are so troubled and messed up, but while that influe

The Secret Son by Joan Kilby

ABOUT THE BOOK A birthday card out of the blue from his estranged father sends successful Seattle marketing man Alex Chernoff on a detour to Cherry Lake in search of answers about his past. A day, maybe two, to tie up loose strings and he’ll be out of there, heading for Mexico, margaritas and blondes in bikinis. Emma Stanhope is all too familiar with hot, rich, entitled guys like Alex. They never hang around for long, especially not for a Plain Jane like herself. No problem. She’s smart and logical, like any good scientist, and knows better than to lose her heart. What Emma doesn’t count on is chemistry—of the romantic kind. What Alex doesn’t count on is meeting the girl who’ll make him want to change his ways. But when he learns that he’s a secret from his father’s real family, he can’t stay in Cherry Lake… even if he wants to. Will love be enough to convince Alex to stay… for good?  REVIEW I really enjoyed getting to know Alex and Emma in this story.  Emma is
