Book Review - Every Yesterday (Boot Creek) by Nancy Naigle

Megan Howard used to be a successful painter—but that was a long time ago. These days she’s struggling to move forward, convinced her heart is permanently broken after her last relationship and grief stricken over the loss of her father. Clinging to memories of happier times, she holds tight to her father’s most cherished possession: a 1958 DeSoto Adventurer. Though she needs the money, she’ll never sell it—even loaning the prized automobile to her best friend on the day of her wedding stirs up painful memories.
Avowed bachelor and car collector Noah Black has never seen a car he can live without…or a woman he can live with. Reluctant to see his best friend condemned to matrimony, he flies to Boot Creek from California to be the best man in the wedding. But after discovering that the gorgeous maid of honor owns the car of his dreams, Noah makes a pricey bet that he’ll add the DeSoto to his collection, no matter what it takes.
Despite their determination to stay single, Noah and Megan soon find they can’t resist each other. His attention turns from getting the car to getting the girl, and thanks to Noah, Megan can imagine a life in the present. But when the truth about Noah’s wager comes to light, will it threaten to throw Megan’s new perspective into reverse?

I really love a great MacGuffin love story.  In this case the MacGuffin is a car.  Naigle writes Noah and Magan so well because she doesn't just create a love story between the two of them, she also creates love stories between each of them and a car.  This unique love triangle makes for a compelling story and more than a few heart felt moments.  I've enjoyed Nancy Naigle's writing for a while now and this novel is another example of how great of a story teller she is.  I recommend this to anyone who loves a good love story, stories about small towns, or even just loves cars.

Blog Post - Married by Contract by Noelle Adams

Three years into a five-year marriage of convenience, Jenn finds herself wanting something she never thought she'd want from her laidback, ex-military husband. Sex--as a much-needed release of tension from her high stress job. But weekly sex with Nick, despite their careful parameters, is likely to get messy eventually.

Ever since her father walked out on her as a child, Jenn knows never to assume the people she loves will stick around, so she's not about to trust Nick with her heart. She vows to stay strong, no matter how much intimacy develops between them in bed.

But what starts as a tension-reliever soon becomes so much more, until it threatens both their practical arrangement and the heart Jenn has worked so hard to keep safe.

This is a nice spin on the married contract romance.  The book starts out kind of abruptly, almost immediately with them starting to have sex, but at the same time it was kind of refreshing.  It was a different kind of sexual tension and added a different twist to the story.  I love Jenn (who I must say has an amazing name!) who is a strong heroine and didn't feel like I got to know Nick quite as well as I would have liked too.  The story was all from Jenn's POV and I would like to have had a glimpse inside of Nick's head to see what he was thinking once in a while.  This was a quick and easy read that left me feeling happy and optimistic in the end.

MATURITY RATING - 18+ a little steamy

Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she reads any book she can get her hands on and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.

She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.

Book Review - Chased by Love by Melissa Foster

Actress Trish Ryder takes her job seriously and has no time for those who don't. When she's awarded a major role in a new movie featuring America's hottest rock star, Boone Stryker, she's beyond excited. The six-two, tattooed hunk of burning desire is known for his dedication to his craft--but when he ditches their first meeting, she begins to wonder if he's just another rocker with a great PR team.

Sex, booze, women, and music pretty much sums up Boone Stryker's private world. He's coasted through life playing by his own rules with plenty of people willing to cover his tracks, and he's not likely to change--until he meets a woman who refuses to give him the time of day, much less anything more.

Sparks fly from the first moment Trish and Boone meet--tensions run hot and desire runs hotter when they're trapped together on a remote location with no place to hide. Will sparks ignite, or will a hurricane douse the flames?

The story of actress Trish and Rocker bad boy Boone is a great one about making assumptions about people and how important perception is verses reality.  The chemistry between the pair is sizzling from the beginning and the both of their stories are interesting complex.  This is a couple that has a lot going against them but are easy to root for.

MATURITY RATING - 18+ Very steamy

Book Review - Sweet Tomorrows: A Rose Harbor Novel by Debbie Macomber

The much-anticipated conclusion to Debbie Macomber’s beloved Rose Harbor series, set in the picturesque town of Cedar Cove, Sweet Tomorrows is a vibrant and poignant novel of letting go of fear, following your heart, and embracing the future—come what may.

Nine months ago, Mark Taylor abruptly left Cedar Cove on a perilous mission to right a wrong from his past. Though Mark finally confessed his love for her, innkeeper Jo Marie Rose is unsure if he’s ever coming back. The Rose Harbor Inn barely seems the same without Mark, but Jo Marie can’t bear to lose herself in grief once more. Determined to move forward, she begins dating again, and finds companionship when she takes on a boarder who is starting a new chapter herself.

Recovering from a twice-broken heart, Emily Gaffney, a young teacher, is staying at the inn while she looks for a home of her own. Having given up on marriage, Emily dreams of adopting children someday. She has her eye on one house in particular—with room for kids. Although Emily’s inquiries about the house are rudely rebuffed, her rocky start with the owner eventually blossoms into a friendship. But when the relationship verges on something more, Emily will have to rethink what she truly wants and the chances she’s willing to take.

The inn seems to be working its magic again—Emily opening herself up to love, Jo Marie moving on—until Jo Marie receives shocking news.

With Debbie Macomber’s trademark charm and wisdom, Sweet Tomorrows brings to a close the journeys of cherished characters who feel like old friends. Macomber has created an enchanting place in the Rose Harbor Inn that readers will never forget.

Seeing this series end was bitter-sweet.  I have enjoyed reading about Jo Marie and her guests at the Rose Harbor Inn.  The style was a perfect set-up for a long going series and I was surprised to find it ending already.  At the same time, the conclusion is perfect and wraps up the story well.  What makes this such a great read is the well-written story and the wonderfully complex characters who make you want to keep getting to know even when the book is over.  I recommend this series for anyone who loves a feel good story and wants to read about real characters they would know in their everyday lives.

Book Review - Mad about Max By Holly Jacobs

Happy endings don’t come easy. . .

Author Grace Macguire is on her way! Her publisher has just bought more of her bestselling Fairy Godmother series of books, and finally, she’s looking at financial security! Her life is just about perfect…until the three fairy godmothers from her books appear and tell her they intend to find Grace her very own happily-ever-after!

So Grace does what any rational person would do when three fictional fairies show up in her car—she finds psychiatric help for her sudden sanity-impairment.

In his career as a psychiatrist, Dr. Max Aaronson thought he'd seen it all. But none of his previous patients has prepared him for Grace Macguire. The poor woman has a bad case of fairy delusions. but when she smiles, he finds he almost believes in magic. Almost.

It’s a bumpy road to Happily Ever After, but with the fairies’ bumbling help, Grace finally gets there. But first, she has to admit that maybe she is a little insane. After all, she’s . . . Mad About Max.

“Fans of whimsical romance will not want to miss Mad About Max. Full of wit and charm, it’s a book that begs to be read quickly and won’t be put down until the last page. – Ivy Quill Reviews

“This delightfully amusing book had me hysterically laughing one minute and tearing up the next.” – Kathy Boswell, E-book and Small Press Reviewer for Romantic Times Magazine

“Holly Jacobs’ deliciously unconventional tale of a writer who thinks she's crazy, and her sexy psychiatrist is guaranteed to endear readers." – Bestselling author, Cheryl St. John

Award-winning author Holly Jacobs has sold more than two and a half million books worldwide. Along with her family and her cover model dogs, she resides in Erie, Pennsylvania, which serves as the setting for many of her stories, including her Dear Fairy Godmother series!

I love Holly Jacobs as an author.  She is definitely one of my go to auto-buy authors.  When some of her early work was re-released on the kindle I jumped at the chance to read anything "new" written by her.  I was a little underwhelmed.  The quality of the writing the writing was good and up to the standards I expect from her, but the story was a little over the top and I was just not feeling it.  I never really got into the characters and the story like I typically do with one of her books.  It was a decent book and I'd recommend it as a quick read, it was still better than most of the fluff that is out there, it just wasn't my favorite of Jacobs' writing.  I'm not sure if I'll read the next two in the series or not... oh who am I kidding, of course I will.

MATURITY RATING - 18+ a little steamy

Holly Jacobs leads a life full of romance and adventure. From skydiving to jet-setting around Europe, from snorkeling in coral reefs to writing while wearing beautiful silk peignoir sets and popping chocolate bonbons, Holly Jacobs leads a life that is the epitome of romance...

Well, my fictional life sounds more interesting, but not better than my real life. Really, I'm the happily married mother of four. I cook a lot, garden and weave baskets! I write for Montlake Romance and Harlequin. My books range from lighthearted comedies to more serious dramas and now even mysteries...but at heart, they're all stories of love.

I don't always set out to write a series of books, but seem to find myself gravitating to them. Because so many people have asked, I've posted lists of all my series in order at www.hollyjacobs.com/bookseries.html. I really try to make each story stand alone, but many of my readers enjoy reading the series in order. Hope this helps!

Thank you to everyone who's picked up a single book, or more of them. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so much support!
