Book Review - Exclusively Yours (The Kowalskis) by Shannon Stacey

Exclusively Yours (The Kowalskis) by Shannon Stacey

This is the first book in The Kowalskis series.  I admit, I purchased it for free over a year ago based on a recommendation from another author, but I never got around to actually reading the book.  I was sitting on a plane, trying to figure out what book I wanted to read to pass time, and happened to open this one up.  I was hooked by the end of the second page, and couldn’t believe I hadn’t read this sooner.  The author’s humor comes through immediately, and I was constantly laughing out loud at the characters thoughts, and sometimes the characters openness.

Keri and Joe were high school sweethearts, and she left town after high school graduation to start her own career.  Twenty years later, her editor finds out that Kari had dated the now reclusive author Joe, and forces her to go back to her home town and get an interview with him.  For  most authors, this would have been the major obstacle in the plot, and the happy couple would fall in love only for the guy to find out that he was being used for a story, even though she actually fell in love with him for real.  Stacey however writes SMART characters, who actually talk and communicate with each other the way actual people do.  It is refreshing to read a story that seems predictable and done before, but turns out to go in a different direction.

I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series and Stacey is already on my auto-buy list.

OVERALL RATING - 5 STARS!

MATURITY RATING - 18 + a little steamy

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Shannon Stacey married her Prince Charming in 1993 and is the proud mother of two incredible sons. She lives in New England, where her two favorite activities are trying to stay warm and writing stories of happily ever after. Her two cats refuse to curl up on her lap and keep it warm while she writes, but her Shih Tzu is never far away.

When she’s not writing, she’s indulging in her other passion—four wheeling! From May to November, the Stacey family spends their weekends on their ATVs, making loads of muddy laundry to keep Shannon busy when she’s not at her computer.
