Book Review - That Touch of Magic by Lucy March - Nodaway Falls #2

Image
ABOUT THE BOOK Stacy Easter has seen better days. Being a librarian is a labor of love—if only paying her bills were half as much fun. What’s a single, bookish beauty in sleepy Nodaway Falls, New York, supposed to do? To make ends meet, Stacy decides to develop her special…powers. Everyone can use a touch of magic now and then, right? Soon she’s got clients lining up to receive her signature potions—until a few of them go awry. Meanwhile, her own life has just taken a storybook turn: Leo North, the official One Who Got Away, is back in town. Stacy’s best friends Peach and Liv are more concerned about the state of her heart than the side effects of a few rogue magic spells. But someone with dark intentions is crossing magical wires all over Nodaway Falls, and those closest to Stacy are at risk. Can Stacy conjure up a way out of this mess with her life—and maybe even her love life—intact? MY REVIEW That Touch of Magic is a true page turner and on par with what I have co

ABOUT THE BOOK Kate Adams has it all figured out. Five years out of college, she's got a steady job, a home she loves in the big city, and good friends who always keep her laughing: her stylish but nosy roomate Evette, happily-married, Cecie, and of course, good old Mitch, her seriously cute co-worker who's been stuck in the Friend Zone since the day they met. Everything is going just fine--until the night Kate corsses the line with Mitch, and the boundaries between freindship and love begin to blur. Things get even more complicated when hunky JP enters the scene. What's a girl to do? Add to the mix a spunky little pug Kate never expected to fall for, and her neatly-ordered life is starting to look more like a dog's dinner. Maybe her roomate has the right idea after all: forget the men, and stick with a canine campanionn instead. It's time for Kate to figure out what she really wants in life. But can she dig her way out of the mess she's created before s

Book Review - Final Vow by Kathleen Brooks

Image
Ahmed was introduced in the first book of the Bluegrass Undercover series, and has remained a prominent secondary character throughout.  I was already in love with the character prior to this book because of his dry sense of humor and how he had been such a good friend to all of the other residents in Keeneston.  Brooks has done a great job of creating a character that is one of the most loved in the series, who also happens to be a hired assassin.  I had a lot of expectation for Ahmed’s book, and Brooks did not disappoint.  Bridget makes a great companion for a dark character like Ahmed.  The mutual respect they have for each other and their abilities makes the relationship work in ways no other relationship could with Ahmed. I was glad that Brooks added an epilogue of sorts at the end to catch the readers up on the characters over the next few years.  I know I for one will miss my book friends in Keeneston, but the epilogue softened the blow of losing them.  This is certa

Book Review - Breaching the Billionaire: Alethea’s Redemption (Book 6) by Ruth Cardello

Image
The final book of the Legacy Collection turns out to be one of the best of the series.  I went into the book questioning how Cardello would be able to redeem Alethea, but had faith that she would find a way.  Cardello does a wonderful job of getting into Alethea’s head and helping the reader understand her motivations for what she has done in the past and for the questionable decisions she makes even in this book.  Marc and Alethea are a great couple.  There is a twist of forbidden romance, unrequited love, and damaged souls finding each other that make this romance more dynamic. All the characters from the previous books make appearances, and if the reader didn’t love Dominic from book 1 before, they will absolutely fall in love with him after this book. OVERALL RATING - 4 STARS! MATURITY RATING - 18 + a little steamy ABOUT THE AUTHOR I live on a small farm in Northern Rhode Island with my husband, three children, three dogs, two horses, one barn cat and an assortme

Book Review - Shadow's Danger (Book One of The Last Hope series) by Cindy Mezi

Young Adult Paranormal Romance Synopsis: Losing a loved one is never easy. Deliah learned to live without her parents when fate took them from her as a young girl. But history repeats itself and causes her to face even greater challenges when Tess, the woman who raised her and was like a second mother to her, passes away. Even worse than dealing with her loss is the coinciding arrival of inexplicable nightmares that haunt Deliah’s nights.  She becomes consumed with images she doesn’t understand and a recurrent dream about her parents’ car accident. Oddly, this dream details different versions from what she had always been told about the accident. But when a new family, The Wates, arrive in town and begin to pay close attention to her, even stranger events follow. Now, Deliah must not only face her nightmares, but the possibility that a world she never suspected exists. And this world may cost her everything. Review : This is a very well written young adult para

Book Review - Exclusively Yours (The Kowalskis) by Shannon Stacey

Image
Exclusively Yours (The Kowalskis) by Shannon Stacey This is the first book in The Kowalskis series.  I admit, I purchased it for free over a year ago based on a recommendation from another author, but I never got around to actually reading the book.  I was sitting on a plane, trying to figure out what book I wanted to read to pass time, and happened to open this one up.  I was hooked by the end of the second page, and couldn’t believe I hadn’t read this sooner.  The author’s humor comes through immediately, and I was constantly laughing out loud at the characters thoughts, and sometimes the characters openness.  Keri and Joe were high school sweethearts, and she left town after high school graduation to start her own career.  Twenty years later, her editor finds out that Kari had dated the now reclusive author Joe, and forces her to go back to her home town and get an interview with him.  For  most authors, this would have been the major obstacle in the plot, and the happy

Book Review - Searching for Someday by Jennifer Probst

Image
Searching For Someday is a spin-off series of sorts from Probst’s popular Marriage to a Billionaire series and takes place in the same “universe.” There are even brief appearances from some of the characters from her other series. Kate has decided that she isn't going to find Mr. Right and has resolved to stop trying and just focus on finding the clients of her matchmaking business, Kinnections, love instead. Slade is a divorce attorney who has been burned by love once before and he has no interest in going through it again. Kate also works with a group of wonderful women at Kinnections that had funny side stories. I really enjoyed the characters introduced in this novel, and look forward to reading the future books in this series.  For fans of the Marriage to a Billionaire series, Probst has the same charm and sense of humor from her previous books, but turns up the steam a bit more in this one than her previous series.
