When he discovers he’s a dad to a four-year-old—and the child’s mother refuses to care for her—Montana and the Wilde farm spring to mind. REVIEW

This book is more than just another second chance romance; it deals with tragedy, family dynamics, and mental illness and the different ways people deal with the same circumstances.  The characters in this book are complexly written and interesting, the story is compelling, and the story flows easily.  While this book is much more intense than Kim Law’s previous books, but not so much so that fans of her earlier work will not love this one too.

Book Review - Thrill Me by Susan Mallery

ABOUT THE BOOK

Meet the Mitchell brothers of Fool's Gold, California—five gorgeous men who've left a trail of broken hearts in their wake…

Maya Farlow learned the hard way to depend only on herself, so when she fell too deeply for the bad-boy charms of Del Mitchell, she did the only thing she could—she ran. Stunned, Del left Fool's Gold to make his name and fortune in extreme sports.

Now ten years later, Maya's been hired to promote her hometown's new slogan, The Destination for Romance. The celebrity spokesman is none other than Del, the man she dumped but never forgot. Awkward!

Although Del's not the type to hold a grudge, he's determined to avoid falling a second time for the woman who broke his heart. He's a daredevil, not an idiot. Trouble is, in all his adventures, he never found a rush as exhilarating as Maya's kiss. Maybe risking his heart will prove to be the biggest thrill of all…

REVIEW

This is a great second chance romance.  Del and Maya are great characters, and it was refreshing that neither character held any anger or resentment for how their romance had ended years earlier, even if they had reservations about starting something up again now.  The story worked and the pace of the book flowed well.  As always, it was great seeing some of the other characters from past books without them intruding in Del and Maya’s story.

Book Review - The Boyfriend List – Jeannie Moon

ABOUT THE BOOK

Jenna Albanese planned it all out at thirteen when she listed the qualities she wanted in her perfect man. Years later, she thought she’d found him. When all she got was a broken heart, Jenna tucked away the boyfriend list—and her belief in happy ever after.

Nate Bayard has a life most people only dream of—he’s a handsome high-caliber polo player and partner in a multibillion dollar business. But as intelligent and confident as he is on the field and in the boardroom, he’s hopeless with women—until he meets the sweet and funny Jenna. She’s just about perfect, and Nate’s determined to make her his. There’s just one little problem. Jenna’s unwelcome past is about to make a comeback.

For Jenna, overcoming her mistrust in men—particularly rich ones—isn’t going to be easy. Then she comes across that old boyfriend list and realizes that maybe it’s time for another look and a few changes to bring a brand new beat to her romantic heart.

REVIEW

The Boyfriend List is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I can safely say I am hooked!   Jenna and Nate are some of the best-written characters I’ve read in a while.  I especially enjoyed reading about Nate, who has a shy and nerdy outward appearance, but is still self-confident enough to go after what he wants.  The spark between these two characters is clear and the conflict doesn’t feel contrived.  This is a quick read and I recommend to anyone who loves contemporary romance.

"Flirting with Scandal by Chanel Cleeton has it all. A sexy hero, strong heroine, delicious romance, sizzling tension and plenty of breathtaking scandal. I loved this book!"—New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy

“A sassy, steamy, and sometimes sweet read that had me racing to the next page.”—New York Times bestselling author Chelsea M. Cameron

“I absolutely loved this book!”—Examiner.com

“Fun, sexy, and kept me completely absorbed.”—Katie McGarry, author of Nowhere But Here

REVIEW

This is a great story if you are willing to suspend some disbelief.  The character development moves a little too quickly and sometimes left me scratching my head wondering why a character made certain decisions when just a few pages earlier they would have never considered them.  However the story itself is strong enough to overcome many of these issues.  It is obvious that these two broken characters are drawn to each other by more than just sexual attraction.  I have not read the first book in this series and am definitely planning to go back and read it now.

Book Review - A Political Affair by Mary Whitney

ABOUT THE BOOK

No one expected Stephen McEvoy to fill his father's U.S. Senate seat at such a young age, least of all him. The scion of a revered political dynasty, he's appointed to the Senate after his father's untimely death. Now he's in a tough election battle against an archconservative. When clever Anne Norwood interns in his office, he dismisses her as another pretty face--until her independent streak catches his attention. She soon finds him far more interesting than his Senator McEvoy persona. They're both too smart to fall for one another, yet they do. Their relationship becomes a political gamble in a tight election, and all the while, his opposition lies in wait for him to make a mistake. As Stephen's past catches up with him, he and Anne must fight for their future. Their lives mean more than politics, and campaigns--like love--are either won or lost.

REVIEW

We’ve all seen this story play out in real life.  Good looking political figure and intern meet and have a secret relationship.  This story is so much more than that cliché.  The genuine pull between these two characters is obvious and the connection is electric.  This is not the case of a man in power taking advantage of a subordinate.  This is the story of two people with a strong connection who are trying to figure out how to reconcile their feelings without become the cliché.   The story is fast paced and romantic and I really love Anne and Stephen.  They are both well written characters who are more than a character of the role they have in the story.  As other reviews have said, the end is a little rushed, but overall the story is well done and I recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance.

Book Review - Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich

ABOUT THE BOOK

Lizzy and Diesel are back in an all-new wicked adventure from Janet Evanovich and Emmy Award–winning co-author Phoef Sutton.

Murdered and mummified nearly a century ago, notorious bootlegger Collier “Peg Leg” Dazzle discovered and re-hid a famous pirate’s treasure somewhere along the coast of New England. A vast collection of gold and silver coins and precious gems, the bounty also contains the Stone of Avarice—the very item reluctant treasure seeker Lizzy Tucker and her partner, Diesel, have been enlisted to find. While Lizzy would just like to live a quiet, semi-normal life, Diesel is all about the hunt. And this hunt is going to require a genuine treasure map and a ship worthy of sailing the seven seas . . . or at least getting them from Salem Harbor to Maine.

Greed is eternal and insatiable, and Lizzy and Diesel aren’t the only ones searching for the lost pirate’s chest. People who have dedicated their entire lives to finding it are willing to commit murder or make a deal with the devil just to hold the fortune in their hands. One of those people may even be Wulf, Diesel’s deceptively charming and enigmatic cousin. Wulf desires the Stone of Avarice. He also desires Lizzy. It’s hard to say how far he’s willing to go to gain either one.

Wicked Charms is a swashbuckling adventure full of raiders, monkeys, minions, and mayhem. Lizzy and Diesel are going to have to do everything they can to keep their heads above water and hope they’re living a charmed life.

REVIEW

This is my first Lizzy and Diesel book, although I have met Diesel in the Stephanie Plum books.  Evanovich’s humor really comes through in this story and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the supernatural aspect of the story.  The characters are aware of how absurd their special powers are and act exactly like I would expect myself or one of my friends if found in a similar situation.  The story did not have any major unexpected twists, but it was still very enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good lighthearted comedy.

Book Review - Her Hometown Hero by Melody Anne

ABOUT THE BOOK

Dr. Spence is searching for the perfect woman…but how will he know when he’s found her? From New York Times bestselling author Melody Anne, the second steamy romance in a new breakout series based on her beloved and bestselling Billionaire novels.

In the bestselling books Billionaire Wins the GameHidden Treasure, and The Billionaire’s Marriage Proposal, among others, we met the Andersons. Matchmaking patriarchs Joseph and George took matters into their own hands to get their sons to marry and settle down. But now that Dr. Spence Whitman sees how happy his Anderson friends are in married life, he’s itching to get hitched too! But how will he find The One?

After his wealthy dad adopted him and his two brothers at a young age, Spence grew up learning there are more important things in life than money. He wants to find a girl who shares that philosophy, and it wouldn’t hurt to have some similar interests too. Now if he could just stop getting distracted by his gorgeous surgical resident, he could start looking for the perfect wife…

REVIEW

This book takes place in the same world as Melody Anne’s Anderson books, and if you have read any of those books you know that her “thing” is matchmaking behind the scenes.  If this is not your thing, then you definitely don’t want to read this.  If you think that is charming, then this book could be for you.  It felt a little forced to me, even by the authors normal standards, especially because it seemed very unlikely to me that a Doctor would pursue a relationship with one of his residents in such a small town.  This is a light beach read, and if you have read the previous books, it is worth reading.  If you haven’t read the other Anderson books, this is probably not the one you should start with.
