Book Review - Then There was You by Miranda Liasson
ABOUT THE BOOK
Angel Falls is the last place Sara Langdon wants to be. Her hometown may be charming, but it's also filled with memories of her "wedding-that-never-was." Yet Sara's grandmother needs her, and joining her dad at his medical practice gives Sara time to figure out what she wants for her future. But when her first patient turns out to be Colton Walker, the man who sabotaged her wedding, Sara starts to wonder if she'll ever be able to escape her past.
As police chief, Colton Walker is devoted to his small town, and he's equally determined to avoid its newest resident. He and Sara have always gotten along like oil and water, and since the bachelor party incident, he's her Enemy #1. But after sharing an unexpected--and unexpectedly hot--kiss, Colton starts to wonder if the woman he's always fighting with is the one he should be fighting for.
REVIEW
Wonderful small town/second chance romance. There are a lot of things about this plot that is predictable, but well... it's romance, there are only so many different ways to write this type of story, but what Liasson is great at is writing characters that really draw you in and make you care about their version of this story. Sara comes back to town temporarily because she is sure she knows she isn't a good fit for the town but her character growth in how she sees the town and her family now that she is older is what makes her so interesting.
Colton is easy to like from the start and it is hard to reconcile the man Sara remembers with the man he is today, which thankfully Sara figures out sooner rather than later in the story. Liasson does a great job with their story showing how they are able to get beyond their past so they can have a future.
