Book Review - Montana Rescue by Kim Law - Free on Kindle Unlimited

ABOUT THE BOOK

Championship bull rider Nick Wilde is the face of Montana Pro Rodeo, with all the acclaim and fans he can handle. But is that enough? Contemplating his next career move, he’s come home to his family’s cherry orchard—and to his childhood crush, helicopter pilot Harper Stone. But Harper’s not quite the sexy, badass girl he once lusted after. Recently widowed, she’s broken in two. Wanting to help her move on, Nick finds himself aching for the kind of stability he never had as a child.
True love comes once if you’re lucky, and Harper already had her shot. An accident took her husband eighteen months ago and left only pain and guilt in his place. Now Nick is waking up her body and heart to everything she might still have to gain…or lose. A second chance is more than she thinks she deserves. But with a man like Nick doing the persuading, maybe it’s time to try.

REVIEW

One of the things I love about Kim Laws writing is that she tackles complicated topics.  The Wilde family is the definition of complicated.  It is often difficult to write in these tough areas in the romance genre because the expectation is that in the end, the guy gets the girl, and everyone lives happily ever after.  Law still manages to live up to that promise while still staying true to the complicated world she has built in her stories and the complicated charters she has created.

In Montana Rescue, Harper is possibly even more broken than Nick, but are in very different places in their paths towards recovering.  This story of strength and friendship and chemistry is well written and is an quick read, but not always easy.  It asks hard questions sometimes and could hit home with the reader at times for anyone who didn't always live in a perfect home or lives in a home that always appeared a little more perfect on the outside than on the inside.  This story is just as much as about characters as it is about romance, which is why I always look forward to Kim Laws books and I recommend it to anyway who enjoys a good character driven story.
