Book review - Bad King by M. Malone

Thane Carter Kingsley IV lives for business.
So when his parents threaten to turn over control of the Kingsley empire to his younger brother if he doesn't settle down, he knows just what to do.
They don't care that the socialites they’ve picked are gold diggers, they just want him married.
So King decides to find the fiancĂ©e of his parents' nightmares.

And where better to find a wife than a place like Club Prestige...

Olivia Reyes has finally built a better life.
She’s a proud business owner and almost out of debt.
Her childhood sweetheart, Bennett Alexander, is the perfect man for her but she hasn't convinced him… yet.
But she will.

After she takes one last job.

Here’s your key to an exclusive world.
A place where anything goes and your darkest desires await.
Only the world’s elite are invited.
Pain. Pleasure. Prestige.

I actually went into this book with fairly low expectations.  I was sure this was going to be more in the erotic genre than romance, and my expectations are relatively low when it comes to erotic romance.  That combined with its short length, I was sure it would just be a fluffy filler book.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a well-developed story with interesting characters.  I shouldn't have been surprised, having read other books I enjoyed by this author before.  King is more than just a cranky rich guy and Olivia is more than a stripper with a heart of gold.  Somehow Malone manages to develop the characters and story in a short space and even leave me wondering about the secondary character of Bennett and hoping I'll be seeing him again sometime.

MATURITY RATING - 18+ a little steamy

NYT & USA Today Bestselling author M. Malone lives in the Washington, DC metro area with her three favorite guys, her husband and their two sons. She holds a Master's degree in Business from a prestigious college that would no doubt be scandalized at how she's using her expensive education.

Independently published, she has sold more than 1/2 million ebooks in her two series THE ALEXANDERS and BLUE-COLLAR BILLIONAIRES. Since starting her indie journey in 2011 with the runaway bestselling novella "Teasing Trent", her work has appeared on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists more than a dozen times.

She's now a full-time writer and spends 99.8% of her time in her pajamas.
