Book Review - Love Me Sweet by Tracy Brogan

Delaney Masterson isn’t looking for fame.

Yes, she has famous parents and a reality TV show, but she’s not the wild-child celebrity the paparazzi have painted her to be. Until…The Scandal. When an old boyfriend releases a private video, Delaney’s name becomes every comedian’s favorite punch line. To escape the media, she sneaks away to Bell Harbor, Michigan—during the worst winter in fifty years.

Adventure show cameraman Grant Connelly has stayed away from Bell Harbor—mostly by choice—but when a family obligation converges with a spontaneous career decision, it’s time to return home.

When bad weather, missing money, honky-tonk musicians, and Elvis impersonators throw Grant and Delaney together on an unexpected road trip, emotions get all shook up. They know only fools fall in love, but they can’t help falling. Still, Delaney has a secret that could tear them apart forever.

Can they weather the storm? Or will this romantic ride end at the Heartbreak Hotel?

I became a fan of the Bell Harbor books through the Kindle Unlimited program, and when I saw another book released in the series I had to read it.  I was not at all disappointed, and immediately fell in love with Delandy and Grant.  Brogan does a great job of creating interesting and relatable characters, even when they are in the entertainment industry.  I found Grant particularly interesting, as he had been discussed somewhat negatively in previous books, and there was a certain amount of redemption necessary with his character going into this story.  It was handled very well, and the author didn’t excuse his previous actions but showed a man trying to right the wrongs of his past, while still showing why he made the choices he did.

I was also surprised that I was able to relate and understand a character that I’m guessing is basically Bell Harbor’s version of a Kardashian.  Delaney quickly shows she is more than just a pretty face and gives a glimpse at the repercussions of what living life in the public eye would be like.

At the end of the day though, I read these books for the story, and the story in this book is well written, romantic, and funny.  I recommend this book for anyone looking for a lighthearted contemporary romance.

MATURITY RATING - 18+ a little steamy

Past or present, Tracy Brogan loves romance.

She writes funny contemporary stories about ordinary people finding extraordinary love, and stirring historical romance full of political intrigue, damsels causing distress, and the occasional man in a kilt.

Tracy is a best-selling author, a 2013 RWA® RITA Best First Book Finalist for CRAZY LITTLE THING, a two-time Golden Quill winner in both contemporary and historical romance, and the winner of a Booksellers Best award for HIGHLAND SURRENDER.

Tracy lives in Michigan with her husband, her children and their overly-indulged dogs.
